We use our SEN experience to support you to create the perfect inclusive solution for your setting.
When designing your space, we will gain a lot of insight from meeting with you and your children, alongside seeing your outdoor area, to build a detailed brief on how we can create a safe and purposeful learning environment. As part of your consultation, we will have a follow up meeting to share all our designs and products with you so we can review in detail their suitability and inclusivity in meeting every need, and make adjustments where necessary.
We have equipment that is suitable for children through to young adults with a broad spectrum of need, whether it is creating an inclusive space with a wheelchair swing for children with PMLD or a robust gym area for pupils to let off steam or regulate who have SEMH.
The beauty of special needs playground design is every setting is unique and should be treated this way, maximising potential for every child and planning for ever-changing cohorts and needs to enjoy the space now and in the future.
St Rose's SEND School, Stroud
St Rose's wanted to draw on Phoenix Play's experience with creating inclusive play spaces, to transform their grounds and provide creative, active and imaginative play opportunities that everyone in the school could access.Calthorpe Academy, Birmingham
Calthorpe Academy is a SEND school based in central Birmingham who wanted help to design an enhanced space for play and relaxation.Westlea Primary School, Swindon
Design of a playground to develop communication skills, social skills and emotional regulation in this ASD unit."One of our youngest children in the provision with visual impairment previously shied away from being involved with the loud and bustling playground environment. However following having our installation of a new active space he is now engaging with peers and exploring in ways we have never seen before. He is making friends and having really happy and fulfilled playtimes, it's been a joy to observe. His favourite thing to do is sing 'if you are happy and you know it' while sat beneath the rickety bridge and listening to the running footsteps over head."
"Since having the redevelopment to our outdoor provision we have seen profound changes in our children's confidence, happiness and desire to be learning and playing outdoors. One of our children with limited mobility has flourished to fiercely determined and hugely motivated by the introduction of new climbing blocks, safety surfacing and trampoline in her new space. These have formed a key part of her weekly OT task."
